Questions About CBD for Veterans

Although marijuana and CBD have been around for many years, people have only recently discovered its many benefits. It’s quite natural in this situation to have questions, such:

  • What exactly is cannabis?
  • What’s the difference between marijuana and CBD?
  • Does CBD get you high?
  • What are the actual health benefits?

First, let’s talk about a few definitions before getting into the differences between CBD oil and medical marijuana.

Cannabis Definition

Cannabis refers to a group of three plants with psychoactive properties – Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis.

When the flowers are harvested and dried, you then have one of the most common drugs in the world. Some call it weed, some call it pot and others call it marijuana. As it is becoming more popular and legal in more states, users are using the term cannabis over other names. Some argue it is a more accurate name, while others feel it is more neutral compared to the slang names like weed or pot.

You most likely have heard cannabis referred to as either hemp or marijuana. The plant produces various cannabinoids, which, most popularly, include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). How it’s bred and grown determines the levels and specific ingredients.

Legally, products of cannabis that contain more than 0.3% of THC are suggested to be derived from marijuana. Products that contain less than 0.3% THC are suggested to be derived from hemp for veterans.

Medical Marijuana

Medical marijuana is the term used to characterize the medicine products from Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica, with two major active compounds: THC and CBD. Medical marijuana has more than 0.3% THC and is taken for medical reasons.

THC occurs naturally in cannabis and is known to produce the psychoactive effects that are typically related to marijuana. CBD also occurs naturally in cannabis and is known for its beneficial effects and has no psychoactive effects.

Cannabis is usually consumed for its relaxing and calming effects. It can be prescribed for a wide range of medical conditions, including chronic pain, glaucoma, appetite issues, and acne.

CBD for Military Members

CBD stands for cannabidiol and is extracted from the flowers of the hemp plant, which is a specific variety of cannabis (think a distant cousin of marijuana). Remember, unlike its relative, THC, CBD will not get you high. Their only similarity is how both act on the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). We shared more information about this system in a previous blog post.

CBD oils harvested from hemp have less than 0.3% THC and can now be purchased in stores and online legally.

Hemp plants are purposely and specifically bred for their high content of CBD. Once extracted, it is typically used to produce products such as oil, capsules, topicals, gummies, and more.

CBD has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes. Today, as the stigma lessens, the therapeutic properties of CBD are extensively studied by scientists around the world.

Health Benefits of CBD

As the testimonies increase of how THC-free CBD oil for veterans has improved people’s lives, doctors have patients walking into their offices every day asking about CBD.

The only CBD medication that is currently FDA-approved is for epilepsy. However, people are swearing that CBD has helped with multiple other health conditions, including back pain, osteoarthritis, and even the harsh side effects of cancer.

Pain Management

There are two main types of pain: musculoskeletal and nerve. CBD oil is proving that it can relieve both kinds of pain. Anecdotal evidence suggests that it can be used to help manage chronic pain in many cases. CBD oil is particularly a great option to use as it lacks intoxicating effects and possible lower potential for side effects than many other traditional pain medications. The physical ailments that go alongside the work of members of the military are endless. Veterans feel the impact of service for the rest of their lives.

  • Chronic Pain Relief

We mentioned the endocannabinoid system (ECS) earlier, which is a cell-signaling system. Everybody has the endocannabinoid system. Researchers think the CBD interacts with the core component of the ECS, endocannabinoid receptors in your brain and in your immune system. The receptors are tiny proteins that are attached to your cells. They receive mostly chemical signals from different stimuli and help your cells respond correctly. This reaction creates anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects that help with pain management.

CBD oil and other CBD products benefit people with chronic pain, cancer pain, neuropathic pain or fibromyalgia. Studies prove that CBD oil was effective in overall pain management and does not cause negative side effects.

  • Arthritis Pain Relief

Extensive studies are being done on the effects of CBD oil on those who suffer from arthritis. Like chronic pain relief, the studies show that CBD oil reduces joint inflammation without obvious side effects. Low dosages of CBD improved just the swelling, while higher dosages have reduced swelling AND pain.

Effects may be felt within 15 to 45 minutes when applying a topical roll-on product to the skin over a painful joint.

It is exciting and encouraging to see the anti-inflammatory AND pain-relieving effects of CBD that could potentially help with arthritis.

  • Migraine Pain Relief

Migraines go beyond the typical stress-type headache or allergy-type headache. Migraines can last anywhere between 4 to 72 hours. Noise, light and even the most mundane activities, such as simply moving, can amplify and intensify symptoms.

While there are numerous traditional medications available that can temporarily alleviate migraine symptoms, the side effects can be quite severe. Although studies on CBD and migraine pain management are limited, the data, as well as anecdotal accounts, indicate that it does help.

What About Anxiety – Can CBD Help?

CBD oil for anxiety veterans is excellent at managing its symptoms to help you feel more relaxed. CBD tells your body to calm down, it mellows out the nervous system to get you out of the “fight or flight” response mode.

Generalized Anxiety

Brain scans of people who have used CBD oil for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) revealed changes in blood flow to the regions of the brain linked to feelings of anxiety. CBD oil usage not only helps you to feel better but also changes the way your brain responded to anxiety.  Participants in studies have been observed as having lower behavioral signs of anxiety. Their physiological symptoms of anxiety, such as increased heart rates, also improved.

Social Anxiety

Most people have some sort of degree of social anxiety. Even blushing is a physiological response we have as humans and is a hallmark physiological response associated with social anxiety. Those who suffer from social anxiety disorder (SAD) have found daily CBD use to be a promising treatment.

Overall reduced anxiety levels decrease for numerous forms of anxiety, including panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

CBD for PTSD in Veterans

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a potentially debilitating condition affecting many, many veterans. It typically consists of re-experiencing a traumatic event (or multiple events) through intrusive memories, flashbacks or nightmares, and often involves hyper-reactivity (a state of constant vigilance) or insomnia. This is a sad reality for veterans, but CBD for PTSD is gaining popularity for helping with some PTSD symptoms, such as nightmares and replaying the negative memories.

Things to Consider About THC-Free CBD Oil for Veterans

Everyone reacts to CBD a little bit differently. Several factors affect how it will work for you, depending on what time of day you use, how often you consume CBD, and what CBD products you use. Similarly, the dosage required to get the desired effect or to manage symptoms may differ from person to person.

It is always advised to start with a low dosage and increase it slowly until you find the ideal level to manage your condition and get the results you desire.

Having a conversation with your doctor is recommended before beginning a CBD supplement, especially if you are managing a chronic condition.

  • In overall cannabis sales, Colorado tops the list, having sold over $1 billion since 2014. (CNN, 2019)
  • The top states for CBD sales in 2019 are California ($730 million), Florida ($291 million), and New York ($215 million). (Statista, 2019)

  • United States hemp for veterans farmland increased from 25,713 acres in 2017 to 78,176 acres in 2018. (Food Business News, 2019)

A New Medicine

There was a sharp spike in CBD product demand in the USA since the beginning of March and onwards, as the COVID-19 crisis began to affect every country and all the majority of people.

People are feeling anxious and having trouble sleeping more than ever before. Many are looking for alternatives because they don’t want to attend their doctors’ offices or go to a hospital for fear of catching the novel coronavirus. Many more simply cannot afford it.

Who Uses CBD?

The questions here are, where is this demand coming from? What does it actually look like?

When asked, “for what condition or purpose are you using CBD oil?”, the top answers for American CBD users were:

  • 40% of purchasers are primarily focused on relieving or managing pain
  • 11% are using for their insomnia
  • 20% to reduce their anxiety
  • 8% use a topical product for arthritis

Additionally,

  • 38% are taking CBD for veterans THC free alongside conventional medicines

The New Normal

People are increasingly turning to natural health products and/or wellness solutions to add to traditional methods or self-care routines. Specifically, American veterans are looking for natural remedies to relieve and soothe symptoms of common conditions, mental health issues, and other physical ailments.

Research suggests that 53% of purchasers have made their first purchase within the past 12 months. May 2019 had more Google searches for CBD products than Beyoncé!

There’s nothing to argue that the increased demand will not be sustained, as Americans are becoming better informed about CBD products. The research will continue, and CBD use will only be more finely tuned and used to its best potential.

It will take time for more people to feel comfortable and knowledgeable about CBD. Many consumers (typically older consumers) are much more skeptical about the reliability of CBD products.

The confusion about what exactly cannabis is and the differences between medical marijuana and cannabidiol and all the CBD products make potential users hesitant to try CBD.  Nevertheless, CBD has been increasingly integrated into the mainstream.

American Cannabinoid Consumption Increases

Last year, Forbes magazine revealed that the CBD market could reach $20 billion by 2024. That’s less than a short four years away. That means the number of Americans who use CBD oil will increase drastically

CBD oils, gummies, topicals and capsules have exploded on the market. Even big-box grocery stores, like Kroger, have noticed the demand and have started to carry CBD products.

Over the last few years, more Americans have:

  1. Become more comfortable with the terms cannabis and CBD
  2. Gained a real interest in natural, organic health products
  3. Researched alternatives to traditional medicines
  4. Seen more CBD products on store shelves
  5. Educated themselves on how CBD can benefit
  6. Seen the results FIRSTHAND of CBD

Don’t Wait for Help

Sadly, extensive research has not been performed on cannabidiols. However, Americans simply aren’t waiting for precise answers on how cannabidiol can help them, and neither is the consumer-products industry.

Now is the ideal time to learn how CBD for military members with no THC can help you. It is an inexpensive, widely available substance outside of the traditional health-care industry. In the United States, two-thirds of people who file for bankruptcy cite medical problems as the reason. It’s heartbreaking to see the endless GoFundMe campaigns in which people literally beg for assistance for their lives.

In 2018, more than 130 people in the United States died from opioid overdoses every day. Anxiety rates and other mental health issues increase every year. Mental-health services are sometimes out of reach for people outside cities or with limited finances.

Americans Largely Approve

USA citizens admit that despite knowing little about CBD, they generally approve of CBD use. Over 80% of people asked in a survey support its use, as the majority of Americans have heard of CBD. Around 56% say they support the application as a replacement for prescription pharmaceuticals for pain relief. And again, almost half of those asked support using CBD for anxiety veterans.

Modern Cure-All?

No single product on the market expanded in 2019, quite like CBD did. This cannabinoid owns 2019’s bragging rights! Its product diversity, apart from oils, gummies, capsules and topicals, is pretty remarkable.

CBD only recently earned the most popular of the cannabis by-product title. That designation was owned for decades by THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana.

Recently, the FDA approved Epidolex, a drug composed of plant-derived CBD, to treat Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. Knowing that there is the science and the proof behind a CBD based drug is encouraging.

Wanting a Change

Americans are overmedicated. It’s rare today to find someone who does not regularly use prescription medications. Some even have multiple medications prescribed by numerous different doctors, which increases the risk of negative side effects.

The question we need to ask is CBD healthier than the drug industry?

We know that the future is bright for CBD as a type of medication. We know that CBD could be a good solution to Americans’ issues with pharmaceuticals. CBD could be the rival for Big Pharma!

The average American spends at least $1,200 every year per medication on prescribed medications. That is more than ANY OTHER developed nation WORLDWIDE! That should be a red flag for consumers.

CBD Oil for Veterans: A Routine Guide for Veterans

CBD Oil for Veterans: A Routine Guide for Veterans

As with most topics nowadays, there is far too much literature and information circulating on the internet about CBD oil for veterans.

If you are a first-time user, your number one question is, “How can CBD oil make my life better?”

The science behind it is pretty amazing. Medical experts believe CBD binds with CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which are found all over the body. Of importance, the ECS is responsible for modulating the functioning of the immune system, the central nervous system, the plasticity of the brain, and a broad range of other crucial functions.

The CB1 receptors are found all over the body, and their job is to transfer signals from these parts of the body and transmit them to the brain to trigger fast action. It is from this ability of CBD to modulate other receptor systems.

But, enough about science. What you want to know is how can it be helpful to you?

Does CBD Oil for Veterans Actually Work?

Unfortunately, many veterans have already tried using other CBD oil in the past, and simply, most found these CBD oils didn’t work. They are hesitant to try it again, understandably. But after prolonged use of numerous prescribed drugs for pain, fibromyalgia, PTSD, anxiety, etc., with horrible side effects, it can make one want to try again. The pain can just get worse and the only remedy is increasing the dosage or testing different drugs.

It’s common to hear the advice, “Why don’t you try marijuana?” Even some doctors are recommending it. But many jobs test for drugs, so that’s not an option. And many people don’t like smoking.

The good news is this: there is high-quality, THC free CBD oil that WORKS.

CBD Quality is the Difference

Times are changing. It’s not uncommon now to find CBD oil in a general shop in most towns or even at a corner gas station. And unless the store worker is well educated in the product, they won’t know more about it than the bags of chips they sell, too.

As CBD continues to increase in popularity, it has become more important to make sure the CBD you use is high-quality and comes from a reliable source. With it being available pretty much everywhere these days, it can be hard to tell the good from the bad. There are many different brands out there that are ineffective AND are more expensive than Patriot Supreme CBD.

The Best CBD Oil Routine

There’s no one right time of day to use CBD oil. Generally, the ideal time is whenever it best fits your schedule and lifestyle. You want to incorporate use so that you can be consistent with your CBD routine. When to take a dose of CBD is a matter of determining what you desire to get out of CBD and the effect the compound has on you as an individual.

If, when taking CBD oil, it makes you feel energized, try taking it in the morning and it can be a huge boost and perfect start to your day. Many veterans and military members take CBD oil for anxiety. If it makes you feel less anxious, consider taking it during the times when it is imperative that you keep your cool. If it makes you feel sleepy, then it makes sense to take it before bed. Understanding the potency and dosing size affects how CBD makes you feel.

Kick Off the Day with CBD

Many start their day with a dose of CBD because it has been found to have a number of helpful and healthy properties. CBD oil for PTSD in veterans is a calming and effective mood stabilizer and anti-inflammatory agent.

The good news is that there are numerous different ways to incorporate CBD into your morning routine. If you start your day with a steaming cup of coffee, you can easily add a few drops of CBD to get your caffeine fix and your CBD dose at the same time. If you don’t drink coffee, you can add CBD oil to anything you drink. Mix CBD oil into your morning smoothie, tea or juice. You could even add it into your bowl of oatmeal!

Improve Your Daily Life

Getting out of bed. PTSD. Constant flashes of pain that randomly occur. Anxiety. Every type of physical ailment you can think of. The list goes on and on of distresses one has to live with on a daily basis. It can be hard to explain to others when pain flares up or a PTSD episode happens, because it doesn’t just occur when you are doing something strenuous. It could happen while sitting around watching TV. Even if it does subside, it can easily come back in different variations of pain.

You may be hesitant and think, is this going to work? It’s not uncommon to hear that statement, and it can be hard to believe that one product can work for so many different ailments.

After using our CBD oil, one veteran stated, “I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t think it was going to work. I took it in the evening right before bed. The next morning, I woke up and I thought I felt something, but I wasn’t too sure about it.

The second day, I felt it, but I didn‘t go too crazy about it yet because I didn’t want to get too excited about it.

The third day, I woke up and instead of doing my usual, as I called it the “zombie walk”, when I got out of bed, I got up and thought, “wow”, and I stood up and felt great. I went and told my wife about it and that’s when I knew that it had worked.”

When asked what he liked about the Patriot Supreme brand, he replied, “Everything, it actually works. I took it for a specific reason, and it works! It takes about two to three days to start feeling it, and it tastes great.”

Using CBD to Help Anxiety and PTSD: Evidence

More than 60 percent of CBD users are taking it for anxiety, according to a survey of 5,000 people. With that staggering number, it is clear to see that it works.

For veterans and military members with generalized social anxiety, it can be debilitating. Yet, a small experiment done in Neuropsychopharmacology found that CBD seemed to reduce nervousness and cognitive impairment in patients with social anxiety.

However, a double-blind study found healthy volunteers administered CBD had little to no change in their emotional reaction to unpleasant images or words, compared to the placebo group. If it’s a calming drug, it should change their responses to the stimuli…. but it didn’t.

The sad truth is that many soldiers returning home haunted by war and PTSD often avoid certain activities, places or people associated with their traumatic events. The Department of Veterans Affairs is funding its first study on CBD, pairing it with psychotherapy.

Top therapies for veterans have attempted to break the association between reminders of trauma and the fear response. CBD oil can help that process happen a lot faster. It is encouraging to know that large clinical trials are underway. Help for veterans is needed, and their challenges for coming home and re-entering the workforce are so great, that extra help is necessary.

THC Free CBD for Veterans Means No High

CBD oil will not get you high. By law, anything made with CBD oil must NOT contain any more than 0.3 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that makes you feel “high.”

However, our THC free CBD oil specially for veterans has absolutely no THC, and therefore there is nothing in our products that would impact your cognitive abilities or keep you from functioning at your best. This means you can rest assured that our products are completely safe to consume.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level but are still legal under some state laws. Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal on the federal level but are legal under some state laws. You will need to check your state’s laws and of anywhere you travel with CBD oil.

Research on the potential health benefits of CBD oil is continually ongoing, so new therapeutic uses for this natural remedy are sure to be discovered.

CBD oil has been studied extensively for its potential role in easing symptoms of many common health issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, pain, and even acne and heart disease. Though there is much to be learned about the efficacy and safety of CBD oil, results from recent studies suggest that CBD oil may provide a safe, powerful, natural treatment for many health issues in veterans and military members.

4 Fictions You’ve Heard About CBD Oil

4 Fictions You’ve Heard About CBD Oil

With its recent rise in popularity, there have been many conflicting facts about CBD oil floating around the internet. Here are four of the most common fictions you need to be aware of surrounding CBD.

4 Fictions You’ve Heard About CBD Oil

The use of CBD oil and other CBD products may only be a current phenomenon. Still, it has certainly captured the minds and the imaginations of everyone from your Uncle Joe to your local health authority. While the growing popularity of CBD products has seen an explosion in articles, information, and research around CBD, what it can do, and how it can help. Unfortunately, with this explosion of data, not all data will be black gold or even Texas tea.

With that in mind, there is some common knowledge around CBD. We know that it helps with anxiety and epilepsy. We also know you can use CBD oil for pain. However, how do you sift through the internet to ensure you’re not taken in by fiction instead of fact?

For more information about CBD oil and CBD products, visit https://patriotsupreme.com/veteran-cbd-shop/

What Is CBD Oil?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound from the cannabis sativa plant. In other words, it is extracted from the marijuana plant. This plant makes between 100 and 140 different chemicals called cannabinoids. The most well-known examples include CBD and its chemical cousin, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is the most abundant chemical of the cannabis sativa plant, and there have been decades of research around it. Fortunately, research has confirmed that THC can help in the treatment of such things as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

CBD is the second most abundant chemical from the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are naturally produced in humans and are involved in many bodily functions, such as pain sensation, sleep, and mood. CBD is thought to interact with the human’s natural cannabinoids to increase their effectiveness.

CBD has been used for a variety of reasons in recent years. CBD oil for veterans, CBD oil for PTSD, and CBD oil for pain are just a few examples.

With that in mind, here are four Fictions to be aware of when reviewing information about CBD and its products.

Four Fictions About CBD

It Gets You High

This is not true.

As mentioned above, the cannabis plant’s two most abundant chemical contributors are CBD and THC. Of the two, THC is the chemical most often related to cannabis or marijuana and causes the psychoactive intoxication or “high” feeling. CBD is the non-psychoactive portion of the plant. In fact, when taking CBD, you won’t feel sedated or altered in any way.

This is how it works: while CBD interacts with the naturally occurring cannabinoids in human systems, THC binds to nerve receptors, specifically the CB 1 and CBD 2 nerve receptors, in the brain and throughout the rest of the body. It is believed that this difference is what allows THC to provide that “high” feeling, while CBD only provides the benefits of its natural interaction with cannabinoids.

THC and CBD have been found to treat certain health conditions. However, many people don’t enjoy the “high” side effect produced by THC and are fearful of the unpleasant and dangerous side effects of other medications. As such, CBD can offer a non-toxic, natural benefit to those who are looking for something free from side effects.

It is important to note that some people may react to CBD in different ways. According to some doctors, about 5% of people say they feel altered after taking CBD. As such, there may be some side effects that are not the norm and may cause symptoms similar to the aforementioned “high” effect. As always, if something occurs that is out of the ordinary while you’re taking CBD, you should consult your doctor about your concerns.

One way to ensure that CBD products are safe to use is to make sure the products are third-party-tested for quality assurance. This will ensure that no outside chemicals (such as carcinogens) are present and that the THC levels are where they are supposed to be.

It Only Helps if you take it a Certain Way

CBD can be taken in several different ways from a variety of products. While each method comes with its own set of pros and cons. There doesn’t appear to be any difference in its effectiveness once consumed.

There are four common methods of taking CBD: edibles, sublingual products, topical products, and vaping or smoking.

Edibles are a good method to take CBD discreetly. As an extra bonus, the sugar and preservatives in edibles help to mask the strong taste of cannabis plant products. However, since the liver and the digestive tract break down the CBD in edibles through a process called the “first-pass effect,” it may take up to two hours for you to feel its effects,  and even then, you’ll only absorb about 20 to 30 percent of the CBD.

Sublingual products are designed to be absorbed under the tongue. The side effect of letting the CBD absorb under the tongue is that more of the CBD will be absorbed, and it will take effect faster.

Topical products are designed to be applied to the skin.  Often, this comes in the form of CBD-infused lotions, balms, creams, or transdermal patches. Topical CBD products are beneficial when treating localized pain or skin conditions such as eczema.

While Topical products aren’t subject to the “first-pass effect,” the permeability of the skin is poor in comparison to the sublingual tissue. As such, topical products may not absorb the CBD as well as when using a sublingual product.

While not as common as the methods mentioned above, CBD can be absorbed through smoking or vaping. This would be done using a high-CBD cannabis flower in a “joint” or using a cartridge that contains CBD oil in a vaporizer.

Smoking and vaping allow the CBD to go directly into the bloodstream, and you’ll feel the effects much faster than with the other methods. Unfortunately, smoking and vaping have been linked to other health conditions that many would not wish to chance.

CBD Products Are Illegal

CBD oil and other products normally come from medical or industrial hemp plants. There has some progress in the legalization of hemp products in the United States; in 2019, President Trump signed a new farm bill that made it federally legal to grow hemp.

While this is true federally, each state can set policy around hemp and its legality. At the time of writing, CBD was fully legal in Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C. Additionally, 23 states have made it legal in some form (specifically for medical purposes), while another 14 states permit the use of just CBD oil.

So, are CBD products legal? Largely, yes.

CBD Can Cure Cancer

Unfortunately, this is not true.

It should be stated, however, that no large clinical trials are investigating the use of CBD as a standalone treatment right now. As research continues on CBD and its applications, there may be more insights and conclusions drawn. For now, however, there is no evidence that CBD can cure cancer.

With that said, there has been extensive research on CBD oil as a complementary therapy for cancer treatment. This often comes in combination with THC. When combined, CBD and THC can help with pain relief and nausea.

In summary, while CBD may be used as a beneficial compound for some cancer treatments, there is no evidence to support its ability to treat or cure cancer.

CBD oil and other CBD products are still fairly new to the market. With the new farm bill that has made it federally legal to use hemp products, and many states allowing differing levels of legality, CBD had become a new focus in health and well-being.

Unfortunately, that new popularity has brought with it as many incorrect assumptions about CBD as it has useful, fact-driven information. Some myths that have come about from this rise in demand include that CBD can get you high, that CBD only works when you take it a specific way, that CBD is illegal and that CBD can cure cancer.

CBD Oil Isn’t Working? 5 Possible Reasons Why

CBD Oil Isn’t Working? 5 Possible Reasons Why

Most people want instant gratification, especially when it comes to taking something for health reasons. It’s no different for CBD oil. CBD oil doesn’t work that way and can cause many to give up too quickly and say that CBD oil isn’t working for them.

Start out with more realistic expectations. Typically, people do not experience physical results from CBD for a few weeks. So, perseverance and patience are important. Also, an understanding of the diverse variables at play that determine long- and short-term effectiveness specifically for you.

We wanted to present 5 possible reasons why CBD oil isn’t working for you, or stopped working and what you can do to better your chances to reach your expectations of CBD.

  1. Choose your Product and Brand Wisely

With so many CBD brands out there, a first good step is to choose a higher quality CBD brand. Only look for brands that have good customer reviews and a good track record.

You may have to experiment with some different brands and products to find the right one for you. Everyone is different, so what works for one may not work for others. Our endocannabinoid systems are unique and respond differently to specific products.

It’s important to know if the CBD product you are using is broad spectrum, full spectrum or an isolate. If one is not working, try a different kind.

  1. Optimal Dosage

The #1 mistake new CBD users make is taking too much CBD or too little. Unfortunately, right now there is no universal recommended dosage, like you would get from taking Tylenol or aspirin. The correct dose is extremely individualized. Body weight, body chemistry, severity of the condition and type are just a few variables.

The goal here is to find the best dose of CBD oil that’s right for you. In order to get the results you were hoping for, it is critically important to find optimal dosage.

Also, you will need to evaluate your dosage continuously, as you may have to increase the amount if you find the effectiveness is less over time. Or decrease the amount if you experience any side effects such as nausea and/or headaches.

  1. Absorption Rate Matters

Absorption rate or bioavailability is the percentage of CBD that truly gets into the bloodstream. There are different absorption rates with the different methods of consuming CBD oil. CBD oil, for example has a 20-30% absorption rate and less than that for capsules or gummies.

So, absorption rate does matter, as you may be getting less than you think. Try different methods of taking CBD oil in order to get the best result possible.

  1. Genetics Can Be a Factor

About 15-20% of people are inclined to produce greater levels of natural endocannabinoids. Actually, health wise this is good for them. However, the higher levels can mean they get less benefit from CBD oil used as a supplement.

  1. Tolerance Buildup

It’s natural to build a tolerance to CBD oil after using it for a while. You may have to increase the dosage to get the same results you were getting. Also, at some point you may experience not even getting results by the increase.

If that happens, you might want to think about a short break from CBD to let your endocannabinoid receptors to reboot. A couple of weeks should do the trick and resume taking the CBD oil. This should get you the results you were getting before.

CBD Oil Isn’t Working

In Conclusion

CBD is not a miracle cure, nor is it a quick fix. It has however, been proven to be highly effective as a supplement to wellness. As with anything else, it may not work for everyone and may take longer to work for some than others. Don’t give up too quickly if CBD oil isn’t working right away for you.

Improve your chances to get the most benefits from using CBD oil by doing some research, be understanding that experimentation and patience is needed. You will be glad you gave CBD a chance!
